Game 12 - New Mexico hosts San Diego State
ALBUQUEQUE, N.M. – Five wins in a row have set up the biggest game in University Stadium history for the New Mexico Lobos. UNM hosts first-place San Diego State with a potential destination of the Mountain West title game on the line. Kickoff is on Friday at 1:32 pm, and tickets are flying off the shelves.
New Mexico is 8-3 overall and 5-2 in the Mountain West, tied with Boise State (7-4, 5-2), UNLV (9-2, 5-2). San Diego State is in first at 9-2 overall and 6-1 in the conference. Two of those four teams will be in the Old Trapper Mountain West Championship game.
For San Diego State, it's easy, as it will host the title matchup with a win. With a loss, San Diego State will return to Albuquerque in a week for the title game if Utah State beats Boise State and Nevada beats UNLV. If SDSU loses and either UNLV or BSU wins, it will come down to a composite of four computer rankings.
For New Mexico, the Lobos need a win and help. The perfect solution is a Lobo win and a Utah State win over Boise State, and UNM will host the championship game next Friday, December 5, at 6 p.m. If UNM and Boise State both win, then UNM's fate will be in the hands of the computer composite.
The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network with Jack Gordon and Randy Cross on the call. Robert Portnoy will be on the radio, calling the action, with DonTrell Moore providing analysis on the Lobo Radio Network.
