ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— Five Lobo soccer players were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Women’s Soccer teams on Tuesday, recognizing their success in the classroom as well as their success on the field.
Kennedy Brown, Allie Anderson, Nicole Anderson, Morgan Juran and Fiona Jenkins all earned the honor, and in addition, were all selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists. As a result, all five will advance to the national ballot for a chance to be named first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® on December 16.
To qualify, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale. For soccer, eligible nominees must compete in 90 percent of the matches or start in at least 66 percent of the matches.
- Anderson and Brown started all 19 matches for the Lobos with N. Anderson starting in all 18 matches she played in. Juran appeared in all 19 matches with 17 starts and Jenkins played in 15 matches with 14 starts.
- Anderson shared the team lead with eight goals but posted a team- and career-best 19 points, while Jenkins led with a team- and career-best eight assists. Brown played in a team-high 1660 minutes, over 97 percent of the total minutes on the season and scored two goals, with Juran second among minutes at 1558. A. Anderson posted a season-best three assists.
As a defense, Juran played the full 90 minutes 14 times, Jenkins and A. Anderson eight times and Brown a team-best 16 times and recorded seven shutouts.
