ALBUQUERQUE, N.M – The New Mexico men’s basketball team opens a three-game homestand on Wednesday night when it hosts Alabama State at The Pit. Game time is 7:00 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on Altitude2, streamed for free on the Mountain West Network and will air on Lobo Radio Network.
Tickets for Wednesday’s game are on sale now at GoLobos.com/tickets. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. UNM will be conducting a food drive at the game. Donate any non-perishable food at any of the main entrances to be donated to the Road Runner Food Bank.
The Lobos (4-2) are returning home after a third-place finish at the Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City, falling to Nebraska before downing Mississippi State in the consolation game. Tomislav Buljan was named to the all-tournament team, highlighted by a 19-point, 21-rebound performance against Mississippi State. He was named Mountain West Freshman of the Week. Buljan, along with Jake Hall and Uriah Tenette, make the Lobos the only team in the nation with three freshman averaging double-figure scoring.
Alabama State, the reigning SWAC Champion that won a NCAA Tournament game last year in the First Four, comes to The Pit with a 3-4 record, including a win at UAB. The Hornets are wrapping up a five-game, 12-day road trip to the Rocky Mountains, after playing at Colorado and three games last week in the Air Force Classic. Guards Micah Simpson and Asjon Anderson were named to the all-tournament team at Air Force.
New Mexico has won both previous meetings, both at The Pit, most recently in the 1999 Lobo Invitational. The Lobos are 30-1 all-time against the SWAC, including a 22-game win streak since a loss to Texas Southern in 1994.
The Lobos’ will continue the homestand on Monday (Dec. 1) with a matchup with New Mexico Highlands. Tickets are on sale at GoLobos.com/tickets.
