COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – New Mexico’s Tomislav Buljan was named the Old Trapper Mountain West Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Buljan was honored after leading two strong performances last week at the Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City.
Buljan’s honor is his first career conference accolade and the first for a Lobo this season.
Buljan was named to the Hall of Fame Classic All-Tournament Team after averaging 15 points and 14 rebounds per game in matchups with Nebraska and Mississippi State last week, while shooting 64.7 percent from the floor and 66.7 percent from behind the arc. On Thursday, he posted 11 points on 5-6 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds against Nebraska. In Friday’s win over Mississippi State, Buljan posted career highs of 19 points and 21 rebounds. The 21 rebounds were a UNM freshman record and tied for the most rebounds by a Division I player this season.
The Lobos return home to host Alabama State on Wednesday night at The Pit. Game time is 7:00 p.m. and tickets are on sale now at GoLobos.com/tickets.
