New Mexico pushed Wyoming the distance but came up just short in a 3–2 loss (25-25, 25-25, 21-25, 18-25, 12-15) Thursday night at the UniWyo Sports Complex.

The Lobos got double-digit kills from Lauryn Payne and Reagan Miller and finished with 12.0 team blocks – their fourth match in a row in double-digits – but Wyoming turned the tide with dominant third and fourth sets and closed strong in the decisive fifth to hold off UNM’s late push.

Reagan Miller turned in one of the most efficient attacking performances of her freshman campaign, posting 13 kills on .478 hitting while adding five total blocks and 18.5 points to lead New Mexico. Lauryn Payne matched that production with a team-high 17 kills, contributing four blocks and 18.0 points while carrying a team-best 53 swings.

Setter Madeleine Miller managed the offense with 45 assists on UNM’s 62 kills and added 18 digs and two blocks in an all-around effort. Addison France supplied another nine kills with only three errors, paired with three total blocks.

In the middle, Zoe Leonard delivered an efficient night with nine kills on .250 hitting, to go along with five total blocks and 11.0 points. Gioia Riccato added eight kills, 12 digs and four blocks, while libero Camila Canedo anchored the back row with a match-high 24 digs, her second-highest total of the season.
