ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— The Lobo women’s basketball program has signed three players to the 2026 class, as announced by Head Coach Mike Bradbury and his staff.

Joining the Lobos are two guards and a center in Maya Thompson, Elizabeth Johnson and Quintilla Hidalgo.

Maya Thompson | Guard | Dallas, Texas
A 5-11 guard from Emerson High School in Dallas, Texas, Thompson is a two-sport athlete in basketball and track and field. On the court, she averaged 18.8 points per game and 8.7 rebounds per game last season and has earned First Team All-District three times, twice selected all-region and was named Defensive Player of the Year once.

Thompson will be the second member of her immediate family to play for UNM as her father Germany played football from 1998-99.

“We’re fired up to add Maya to our program,” commented Bradbury. “She’s an agile, confident wing who can flat-out score it — whether it’s knocking down threes, creating off the dribble, or making plays in the mid-range. She reads the floor, moves with purpose, and finds ways to impact the game on both ends. She’s active in passing lanes, runs the floor, and fits perfectly with our up-tempo style. She embodies the effort and competitiveness we expect in a Lobo.”

Thompson plans to major in business at UNM.

On why UNM, Thompson stated, “I chose UNM because it’s close to family, but it also just felt like home. The culture that’s been built there is unmatched, and we have one of the best fan bases in the country.”

Elizabeth Johnson | Center | Orcutt, California
A 6-2 center from Orcutt Academy has averaged a double-double for three seasons, finishing with 23.3 points per game and 15.9 rebounds per game last season behind 18 double-doubles.  She was named a team captain twice, the 2025 Times All-Area Girls Basketball Team MVP as well as the Mountain League MVP. She also earned First Team All-League in 2023, 2024 and 2025 and the First Team All-Area all three years.

On the AAU circuit, she was a Second Team All 3SSB and won the Adidas 3SSB 17U championship.

“Elizabeth brings a physical presence and toughness inside that we’re really excited about, Bradbury provided. “She’s strong, bouncy, and relentless on the boards — the kind of player who embraces contact and finishes through it. Her hands, footwork, and feel around the basket are impressive, and she defends with energy all over the paint. She’s going to give us a real spark in the post and fits the Lobo identity to a tee.”

Quintilla Hidalgo | Guard | The Netherlands
A 5-9 guard from Almere in The Netherlands, Hidalgo has played for the Netherlands Youth National Team the last three years.

Most recently, she competed at the 2025 FIBA U18 Women’s EuroBasket, where she averaged 13.9 points per game, 4.4 rebounds per game and 4.3 assists per game. Previously, she played in the U16 FIBA Women’s European Championship in 2023, averaging 8.6 points per game, 4.4 rebounds per game, and with the U16 team at the FIBA U16 Women’s European Championship in 2022, where she averaged 8.0 points per game, 5.3 rebounds per game and 1.6 assists per game.

“We’re thrilled about Quintilla,” Bradbury noted. “She’s an athletic, attacking guard with great length who plays downhill and finishes through contact. She can knock down shots, create her own looks, and impacts the game everywhere with her energy and wingspan. She’s got huge upside, and fans are going to love watching her grow in our program.”

On why she chose New Mexico, Hidalgo referenced the different cultures and quality education. She plans on majoring in international business and marketing at UNM.
