ALBUQUERQUE, N.M – The New Mexico men’s basketball team travels to Kansas City this week for the Hall of Fame Classic. The Lobos open the tournament with a Thursday night matchup with Nebraska (5:00 pm MT) before playing either Kansas State or Mississippi State in the championship/consolation game on Friday at the T-Mobile Center. Both Thursday and Friday’s games will air on NBCSN, Peacock and the Lobo Radio Network.

The Lobos (3-1) are looking to rebound from a loss at New Mexico State on Saturday night in their road opener. New Mexico is one of two teams nationally (Virginia) to have three freshmen averaging double-figure scoring, including Tomislav Buljan, who is one of six freshmen nationally averaging a double-double.

Nebraska is 4-0 this season and owns the nation’s longest active win streak at eight, after ending last season with the title at the inaugural College Basketball Crown. The Cornhuskers are led by Pryce Sandfort, who is averaging 17.5 ppg.

The teams have only met once before, an 83-71 Lobo victory at The Pit in the first round of the 2009 NIT.

New Mexico is playing in Kansas City for just the second time. In 2013-14, the Lobos lost to No. 13 Kansas 80-63 in a matchup at the T-Mobile Center (then known as the Sprint Center).

The Lobos will play either Kansas State or Mississippi State on Friday, either in the championship game (7:30 pm MT) or consolation game (5:00 pm MT). The Lobos and Wildcats last met in 2006-07 when they met twice, a UNM win in The Pit and a KSU win in the Las Vegas Invitational. New Mexico and Mississippi State have never met before.

Following the tournament, the Lobos return home to begin three-game homestand at The Pit, beginning with a matchup with Alabama State on Wednesday, Nov. 26.
