ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- The last time New Mexico lost a football game, it was the season opener to Michigan, and UNM responded with three straight wins. If the Lobos do that again, they will go bowling. That would all start this Saturday night as the Lobos head to Albertsons Stadium to take on the Boise State Broncos at 7:45 pm Mountain Time, and it will be broadcast on FS1.
Robert Portnoy and DonTrell Moore will have the call on the Lobo Radio Network.
The game is the second of three straight night games that will be shown on FS1.
Both teams enter the game 3-2 on the year, but the Broncos are 1-0 in the Mountain West with a win over Air Force, and the Lobos are 0-1 after losing to San Jose State on Friday night. A few streaks are working against UNM in this one, as BSU has won 14 straight at home, seven straight on FS1, and the game is also BSU's Homecoming game. The Broncos are 25-1 in their last 26 Homecoming games.
Both teams are coming off a loss, with UNM falling 35-28 at San Jose State and Boise State losing at No. 22 Notre Dame 28-7, although BSU led that game until late in the first half.
Up until last week, Boise State was rolling offensively, scoring 51, 49, and 47 points in wins over Eastern Washington, Air Force, and Appalachian State.
Maddux Madsen has thrown for 1,344 yards and nine touchdowns on the season, and Dylan Riley has rushed for 393 yards and five TDs. UNM counters with Jack Layne, who has thrown for 1,162 yards and boasts a 69.5 completion percentage, which is second in the Mountain West and 21st nationally, and seven TDs.
Rushing, Damon Bankston has 289 yards, and Scottre Humphrey has 273.
Defensively, Ty Benefield leads the Broncos with 41 tackles, while Jaxton Eck has UNM's top number with 46.
