FRESNO, Calif.— The Lobos closed with the week on the road with a Sunday stalemate against Fresno State, picking up a point in consecutive matches following a 0-0 draw.
The Lobos managed just six shots in the match, three on goal, all occurring in the second half, with Alyson Campbell called on to make six saves and the Lobos recording a team save.
Fresno State was the aggressor early, taking its first shot 1:24 in, which was wide left, and five shots in the first 15 minutes, with one blocked and one team save and a save by Campbell. The Bulldogs took a total of eight shots in the half with four on goal.
In comparison, UNM’s first shot of the match came at the 50:17 mark, a shot by Nicole Anderson that was saved, followed by a shot by Alejandra Puerto in the 56th minute that was wide left. Gabby Beaudry took a shot in the 65th minute that was wide left as well and a shot by Kennedy Brown requiring a Bulldog goalkeeper save in the 80th minute. A shot by Claire Roybal in the 83rd minute hit off the right post for the final good look for the Lobos, while the Lobo defense fended off two late shots in the 89th minute and with two seconds left in the contest.
UNM (5-2-4, 1-0-2) returns home to host Grand Canyon on Thursday at 7 p.m.
