HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – The New Mexico women’s golf team continued play Saturday at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate with the second round of play at the University of Denver Golf Course at Highlands Ranch. The Lobos shot 9-over during Saturday’s play to climb two spots to 12th place at 20-over.
Seventh-ranked Vanderbilt continues to lead, with a 36-hole total of 18-under. Colorado and Texas State are tied for second at 7-under. Xavier (4-under) and host Denver (2-under) are the only other teams under par.
Chelsea Truong led the Lobos for the second straight day, shooting her second consecutive even par round of 72. She is T-19th overall at even par through 36 holes. Rebecca Galasso shot 74 on Saturday and is at 7-over through two rounds. Maria Caparros Levin is at 6-over for the tournament after shooting 76 on Saturday. Ava Cepeda shot 75 in the second round and is at 10-over for the week. Juliette Hole is also at 10-over after shooting 78 on Saturday.
“The team hung tough today through 40-mph gusts,” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “Chelsea was so steady. It was like she was in a bubble, unaffected by the high winds.”
The tournament concludes Sunday at the University of Denver Golf Course.
