TULSA, Okla. –– The No. 11 New Mexico men’s golf team concluded its fall schedule on Tuesday with the completion of play at The Clerico. The Lobos finished fourth at the event, shooting 31-over at the renowned Southern Hills Country Club.

New Mexico shot 21-over during the final round of play, as every team in the field shot double-digits over par on Tuesday in tough conditions at a course that has hosted nine major championships. The top four teams at the tournament are all ranked in the top 20 nationally, with No. 16 Auburn winning at 8-over, followed by No. 17 Oklahoma State at 14-over, No. 20 Texas Tech at 22-over and the No. 11 Lobos at 31-over.

Johnnie Clark and Oliver Cage led the Lobos on Tuesday, each shooting a 4-over 76 in the final round. Clark finished T-14th on the individual leaderboard at 7-over for the week, tying Thayer Plewe, who finished at 7-over after a final round 77. Mesa Falleur finished at 11-over, Wyatt Provence finished at 14-over and Cage finished at 23-over.

“Today was a tough day with rain and wind combined with major championship hole locations and tee boxes,” said head coach Jake Harrington. “I am proud of the way the guys battled all day and turned in a solid round based on the conditions. It’s a great way to end the fall semester on a world-class golf course against an elite field. There is a reason they host major championships at Southern Hills. We are now looking forward to some well-earned days off.”

The Lobos will return to action Jan. 26-28 when they open the spring schedule with the Southwestern Intercollegiate in Westlake Village, Calif.
