SAN MARCOS, Texas – The New Mexico women’s golf team concluded its fall schedule on Monday with the final round of the Jim West Challenge at Kissing Tree Golf Club. The Lobos shot 7-over during the third round to finish T-12th on the team leaderboard at 33-over.
Texas A&M won the event at 15-under, one shot ahead of Florida State at 14-under. Oklahoma and Houston tied for third at 3-under while TCU finished fifth at 1-over.
Ava Cepeda posted her second under par round of the season on Monday, carding a 1-under 71 to lead the Lobos. She finished the tournament at 5-over, the top individual Lobo at T-30th. Maria Caparros Levin finished at 9-over, Juliette Hole finished at 10-over, Rebecca Galasso, who shot 1-over on Monday, finished at 14-over and Chelsea Truong rounded out the lineup at 15-over.
“We were a lot more steady today, up until the wind picked up on the back nine,” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “We’re still making too many late bogeys. We have a lot of work to do in the off-season, but I’m excited for some of the progress that I saw throughout the fall.”
New Mexico will return to action Feb. 14-16 when it begins the spring season with the Alice and John Wallace Classic in Palm Desert, Calif.
