COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --- Perhaps the best story and the most fun team in college football, the New Mexico Lobos, are getting another shot at Prime Time TV. Fox and the Mountain West have announced that UNM's game against the preseason MW favorite Boise State will kick off at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, with the game airing on FS1.

It will mark the second straight week on FS1 for New Mexico, as the Lobos face off against San Jose State on Friday night, October 3.

The Lobos are 3-1 on the season, the first 3-1 start since the 2007 season. Additionally, UNM has won its last three games, and a win over San Jose State would be UNM's first four-game winning streak since a five-game streak in 2016. It would be the second four-game winning streak in the past 21 seasons if it were to happen.

The Lobos are coming off a 38-20 Rio Grande Rivalry win in front of a sold-out University Stadium, the first sell-out of the building in 18 years, and the 37,440 was the ninth-largest crowd all-time for a UNM home game. Jack Layne threw for 303 yards and four touchdowns, and UNM overall had 344 yards passing and five touchdowns. The Lobo defense pummeled New Mexico State to the tune of nine sacks (tying a school record) and 11 pass breakups.

The Lobos and the Broncos have played 14 times, and UNM has just one win in the series; however, this marks the 10th anniversary of that stunning 31-24 victory. In that game, UNM won despite Boise State being 96-4 in its previous 100 games at home. The Broncos completed 41-of-75 passes and had a receiver, Marshall Sperbeck, catch 14 passes for 281 yards.  Boise State also had 40 first downs, UNM was 0-for-14 on third down in the game, and UNM had 16 penalties for 132 yards and just 11 first downs.

However, UNM in that game twice forced turnovers inside the five-yard line, got a 74-yard touchdown run by Jhurrel Pressley, and an 81-yard catch from Delane Hart-Johnson. In the end, UNM survived a wild lateral play that started with 0:01 on the clock, with Austin Cottrell getting tackled at the 4-yard line by Markel Byrd.

This season, the Broncos are much like UNM, sitting at 3-1 overall, having won three in a row. Boise State's offense is rolling, putting up 51, 49, and 47 in its three wins. The Broncos are at No. 21 Notre Dame this Saturday.
