TULSA, Okla. --- UNM junior Dario Ciobotaru is headed to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to take part as UNM’s lone representative in the ITA Championships. Ciobotaru will take part in the prequalifying rounds of the tournament, looking to play his way into the field of 64.

The eight quarterfinalists in the main draw and the two consolation draw finalists will earn automatic berths into the NCAA singles championships.

For Ciobotaru, the ITAs will be his 2025-26 season debut, as he did not participate last week in the Wildcat Invitational in Arizona. Ciobotaru is the lone holdover from the regular lineup that won the Mountain West Tournament Championship last year and was one point away from a regular-season title as well.

In 2024-25, he was tied for second on the team in wins with 21 singles victories, and his 12 spring victories also tied for second on the team. He proved to be a versatile asset for head coach Rob Bareford as the only Lobo to win multiple matches at four different singles positions over the season.

Fans can follow Dario’s progress in the tournament via ITA live stats, or check in on Lobo Tennis on social media on X and Instagram.
