Lobos Beat Prairie View in Four, Improve to 6-0
STEPHENVILLE, Texas — New Mexico Volleyball closed out its weekend on the road with another victory, defeating Prairie View A&M in four sets (25-11, 25-27, 25-13, 25-15) on Saturday afternoon to stay unbeaten at 6-0.
It’s the first time the Lobos have won all of their first six matches since 2021, when they opened the season on an eight-match win streak. With their second 3-0 weekend, they claim another nonconference tournament title as champions of the Tarleton State Invitational. Freshman Addison France and junior Madeleine Miller were named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Lobos hit .265 as a team (47 kills on 117 attempts) while limiting the Panthers to just .110 hitting. UNM also posted 10 total blocks and a 61% sideout rate to retake control of the momentum after dropping the second set. PVAMU never led again after taking a narrow second set that saw 13 ties and six lead changes.
The Lobos’ offense rolled up 61 kills on .257 hitting, led by Addison France’s career-high 17 kills (.293). Gioia Riccato added a double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs, Zoe Leonard hit .458 with 12 kills, and Solia Angilau chipped in 9 kills plus 1 solo and 3 block assists.
Setter Madeleine Miller ran the show with 48 assists and keyed the service pressure with a match-high 7 aces as UNM totaled 12 aces on the day. Defensively, libero Camila Canedo posted 20 digs, Madison Blanco had 19, and Miller added 19 more as the Lobos finished with 89 digs and 7.0 team blocks. On the weekend, Miller served up 15 of UNM’s 32 aces in total with an average of 9.67 assists per set.
