by Allison Weiss

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— The 2025-26 non-conference schedule is complete with seven home games and the Lobos set to face as many as five Power 4 opponents overall.

UNM kicks off the schedule with the return of The Howl at 7 p.m. on Oct. 4 before two exhibitions, hosting Adams State in an exhibition on Oct. 22, and a trip to UT Arlington for an exhibition on Oct. 28.

The Lobos have five home games on the schedule in November, starting with Northern Arizona for the season opener on Nov. 3. After a trip to Boulder to face Big 12 member Colorado on Nov. 6, the Lobos host North Carolina A&T (Nov. 9) and New Orleans (Nov. 12, which will also be a Kids Game). The Rio Grande Rivalry resumes at New Mexico State on Nov. 16, the only meeting on the season between the two schools, with the November home schedule closing with UT Martin on Nov. 20 and Texas Tech on Nov. 23.

UNM will participate in the Florida Gulf Classic Challenge Nov. 28 and 29 with opponents to be announced. The non-conference schedule concludes with two Big 12 teams in Arizona (in Tucson on Dec. 7) and at home against Houston (Dec. 13).

Of note, UNM opens with NAU for the second-straight season. Additionally, it will be the 15th time the Lobos have faced Colorado, with the last time in 2001. The Lobos are 3-3 in Boulder, with the last win at Colorado in 1978. UNM has played North Carolina A&T only one other time, back in 2009 in Albuquerque (a Lobo win) and has not previously played New Orleans or UT-Martin. Against NMSU, the Lobos are 58-29 all-time against the Aggies, 25-16 in Las Cruces.

The game against Texas Tech on Nov. 23 will be the first meeting in The Pit since 2017, a 90-56 UNM win, with the Lobos 4-5 all-time at home against TTU. The Lobos last played at Arizona in 2021, with the Lobos also 4-5 all-time in Tucson with the last road win in 2009. Further, the Lobos are 6-4 all-time against Houston, 5-0 in The Pit, with the two teams meeting in Albuquerque in 2022, a 68-61 Lobo win.
