New Mexico and Santa Clara Announce Home-and-Home Series
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico and Santa Clara have announced an upcoming home-and-home series in men’s basketball over the 2025-26 and 2026-27 seasons. The Lobos and Broncos will play this upcoming season on Dec. 6, 2025 at The Pit in Albuquerque and on a date to be determined in 2026-27 at the Leavey Center in Santa Clara, Calif.
New Mexico leads the all-time series 5-3, with the last meeting coming in 2023-24 when UNM won 93-76 at the Jack Jones Classic in Henderson, Nev. The teams have not met in The Pit since 2004-05 when the Lobos won 93-59 in the NABC Classic. Next year’s contest will be the first meeting between the schools at Santa Clara. The Broncos’ last win in the series was in 2011-12, a 79-76 overtime victory at the 76 Classic in Anaheim, Calif.
The Lobos are coming off a 2024-25 season that saw them post a 27-8 record, win the Mountain West regular season title with a 17-3 record and reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Santa Clara went 21-13 last season, including a 12-6 record in the West Coast Conference, and reached the second round of the NIT. The Broncos finished the year ranked in the top 60 nationally in both KenPom and the NET.
