The Lobos outshot the Islanders 17-5 in the contest, 6-1 in shots on goal, with Nicole Anderson leading with five shots and two on goal.

It was a physical match early with six fouls called in the first 16 minutes and neither team able to build any rhythm with no shots taken in the timespan. Overall, there were a combined 39 fouls in the match.

The Lobos had the first corner kick of the match at the 13:36 mark with Anderson taking the first shot of the match by either team at 19:21 which was saved by the Islander keeper. Mercedes Morris followed less than a minute later with a shot that was off target to the right of the post.

Following a yellow card by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi that set up a free kick for the Lobos in the 34th minute, the shot by Gabby Beaudry went wide, with Anderson’s shot in the 38th minute also off target.

Dils broke the tie at the 40:02 mark after Fiona Jenkins sent the ball down field, with an Islander defender collecting it and on a kick back to the Islander goalkeeper, Dils intercepted the pass and following an initial save, recovered the ball and kicked it into the net.

UNM attempted to add to its lead late in the half as Allie Anderson put a shot on target that went to the bottom left of the goal that the Islander keeper was able to get a hand on for the save at 44:25 to keep the score 1-0 at the break.

Fouls continued to mount at the start of the second half with neither team able to attack in the first five minutes. N. Anderson created enough space to get off a shot at the start of the 52nd minute, the first of the half by either team, with the Islander keeper able to gather it in.

The Lobos continued to create opportunities as N. Anderson had another opportunity in the 57th minute inside the 18-yard box, with the shot going wide of the net and out of play for the goal kick, Jenkins tried to go towards the inside post in the 59th minute that went wide of the post, and Alysa Whelchel followed suit with a shot on goal at 59:22 that was right at the keeper.

The Islanders had their first chance in the 63rd minute that was blocked with the corner kick leading to nothing and a shot in the 67th minute that sailed over the net. Two corner kicks for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the 72nd minute were thwarted by the Lobo defense, ultimately resulting in a goal kick for UNM.

An offside call on TAMUCC in the 75th minute prevented an Islander opportunity, with the Lobos having two chances of their own following a corner kick in the 76th minute with a Kennedy Brown shot off target and a corner kick in the 81st minute that resulted in a shot by A. Anderson that went over the net.
