by Frank Mercogliano

TEMPE, Ariz. — The University of New Mexico men’s tennis team picked up several honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The squad was named an ITA 2024-25 All-Academic team, and nine members of the squad were named ITA Scholar-Athletes.

To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or higher (on a 4.00 scale), taking into account all student-athletes on the team.  To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a student must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year.  The squad not only excelled in the classroom but also on the courts, as the Lobos won the Mountain West Tournament title, earning a berth in the NCAA Tournament and finishing in the national rankings at No. 62.
