Swimming & Diving Earns Academic Honors from CSCAA
RICHMOND, Va.— The University of New Mexico Swimming & Diving team was named a Spring Scholar All-America team, and three student-athletes, Alice English, Isabella Gomez and Arianna Pelligra, were named to All-America Scholar-Athletes. The announcements were named by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
Overall, 763 teams from 432 institutions were honored as Scholar All-America Teams for the Spring 2025 semester across all divisions in both men’s swimming & diving and women’s swimming & diving. These teams, comprising 18,459 student-athletes, were recognized for their outstanding academic achievements.
To earn CSCAA Spring Scholar All-America team status, a program must have achieved a grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 or higher during the Spring 2025 semester.
To qualify for First Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes must have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher and participated in their national championship. Second Team selections must have also earned a 3.5 GPA or higher and met a “B” time standard for the national championship or qualified for a diving zone qualification meet.
In 2024-25, the women’s swimming & diving team, under head coach Naya Higashijima, had its best season since the 2019-20 season, earning its highest Mountain West finish in five years.
New Mexico CSCAA Scholar All-America honorees:
- Alice English: (2nd Team) – Population Health
- Arianna Pelligra: (2nd Team) – Political Science
- Isabella Gomez: (2nd Team) – Communications
