Sir Marius Jones Signs with Lobo Men’s Basketball
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico men’s basketball program announced Friday the signing of another player to its 2025-26 freshman class. Sir Marius Jones, a standout prep player from California, becomes the third high school player to join the Lobos for the upcoming season.
Jones, a 6-4 guard from Sacramento, originally had committed to UC Irvine. He was a third-team all-state honoree last season at Sacramento High School, averaging 20.9 points and 2.7 assists per game. As a junior in 2023-24, Jones averaged 21.0 points per game, helping lead the team to the state playoffs. He finished his high school career with over 1,600 career points.
“We are thrilled to welcome Sir Marius to our program,” said head coach Eric Olen. “His ability to play on and off the ball makes him a great fit for our system. He’s a playmaker on both sides of the ball and has a bright future as a Lobo.”
“I am excited to be a Lobo,” said Jones. “I chose New Mexico because faith is everything to me. The staff proved to have the most faith in me and I have the most faith in them.”
