Lobos Place Three on CSC Academic All-District® Softball Team

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— The Lobos placed three student-athletes on the CSC Academic All-District® Softball Team, as announced on Tuesday.

To qualify, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50. Athletically, student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the games played or must start in at least 66 percent of the games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings.

Two Lobos earned their first all-district accolade in Hayden Luderer and Lexi Atcitty, while Sydney Carithers earned the award in consecutive seasons.

Carithers carried a 3.90 cumulative GPA in her final season with the Lobos, recently graduating with her master’s in physical education after earning her bachelor’s degree in liberal arts in May 2024 with a 4.18 GPA. The Fort Worth, Texas native played in 52 games with 51 starts, including 27 games at third, 14 games behind the plate and 10 games at second. Carithers finished with her best collegiate season in batting average (.264), on-base percentage (.379), slugging percentage (.438), total bases (53), doubles (nine), home runs (four), RBI (19), sacrifice bunts (five) and walks (17).

Additionally, she registered eight multi-hit games, tying her career best from her freshman season, and three multi-RBI games, also tying her career best from her freshman season, which both happened under Coach Nicole Dickson.

Academically, Carithers finished her Lobo career as a two-time academic all-district recipient as well as a two-time Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete and a Mountain West Scholar-Athlete and Academic All-Mountain West honoree.

Luderer earned her first academic all-district award after producing a 3.55 GPA in psychology. In her sophomore season, Luderer played in 51 games with 43 starts, starting 39 games in center and four games at third. The Lobo improved her batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, hits, total bases, RBI, walks, doubles and home runs, finishing with 26 hits, 16 RBI, three doubles and two home runs, the first RBI, doubles and home runs as a Lobo. The California native hit .255 with a .339 on-base percentage and .343 slugging percentage, and in the field recorded 61 putouts and nine assists.

In her first year at UNM, Atcitty earned a 3.90 GPA in liberal arts to qualify for the academic award, and in the circle, appeared in 16 games with five starts. The redshirt sophomore earned her first win as a Lobo against Saint Joseph’s and finished with a 4.71 ERA following 35.2 innings of works. Atcitty recorded a strikeout in 11 games with four games with multiple strikeouts, including a season-high four in two games.
