CARLSBAD, Calif. –– The New Mexico men’s golf team concluded its season Sunday as it completed play at the 2025 NCAA Championship with the third round at the North Course of the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa. The Lobos shot 10-over during the third round to finish the tournament in 26th place at 36-over.

The top 15 schools made the cut for Monday’s fourth and final round of stroke play. The Lobos were 19 shots off the cut line of 17-over.

Wyatt Provence was the low Lobo on Sunday and for the championship. He posted an even par round of 72 on Sunday to finish the event at 9-over. Provence posted rounds of 71 and 72 over the final two days to bounce back from a first round 82.

Carson Herron, playing his final collegiate event, capped his career with a 1-over 73 on Sunday. It was his best round of his six career rounds at La Costa at the NCAA Championship. Clark Sonnenberg shot a final round 75, while Mesa Falleur and Oliver Cage rounded out the lineup with a 78 and 79, respectively.

“It is always an honor to come to La Costa and compete against the top teams in the country,” said head coach Jake Harrington. “To do that three years in a row means a lot to his program. It is disappointing to not have the rounds that we wanted to as we just couldn’t find a fourth man each day. Carson and Wyatt were steady today and all five guys fought to the end.”

The Lobos were making their third consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championship, making them one of 12 teams in the country to qualify for nationals each of the past three seasons.
