CARLSBAD, Calif. –– The New Mexico men’s golf team continued play Saturday at the 2025 NCAA Championship with the second round at the North Course of the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa. The Lobos shot 17-over during the second round to finish the day tied for 27th place at 26-over.

Only five schools are under par through 36 holes of the championship. Arizona State holds the round two lead at 13-under. Oklahoma is second at 10-under, followed by Auburn at 8-under, Florida at 5-under and Florida State at 1-under.

Wyatt Provence led the Lobos on Saturday, bouncing back from an opening 82 to shoot a 1-under 71 in the second round. He had four birdies on the day to post the Lobos’ third under par round of the championship.

Oliver Cage is the low Lobo on the individual leaderboard at 4-over, posting his second consecutive round of 74 on Saturday. Carson Herron shot 77 in the second round, while the lineup was rounded out by Clark Sonnenberg and Mesa Falleur, who shot 83 and 85, respectively.

“You can’t compete at this level if you can’t put four scores together,” said head coach Jake Harrington. “I am proud of Wyatt Provence with how he bounced back from yesterday’s disappointment to shoot 1-under. Ollie had another steady round that easily could have been under par today. We are going to have to dig deep tomorrow. We have to play with some pride and some heart, playfor each other and see what happens.”

The NCAA Championship continues Sunday with the third round at La Costa. Following the round, the top 15 teams will make the cut to play Monday’s final round of stroke play. The top eight teams after the fourth round will play match play Tuesday and Wednesday for the national championship.
