Men’s Tennis Adds Fourth Player to 2025-26 Class
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Head men’s tennis coach Rob Bareford, who in his first season led UNM to a Mountain West Tournament championship, has announced the addition of Jakub Prachar to the squad for the 2025-26 season. For fans of Lobo tennis, that name should sound very familiar, as he has faced off against UNM while a member of Northern Arziona.
The addition of Jakub Prachar (pronounced ya KOOB prah CHAIR) brings the newcomer count to four for Lobo men’s tennis. Pracher joins Tyler Waddock, formerly of Eastern Washington, Jan Skerbatis, formerly of Valdosta State, and Alberto Perez, formerly of Eastern Florida State College, to the Lobo squad.
“I’ve coached against Kuba the last two years and he is a talented lefty. I believe he can raise his level even higher and we look forward to helping him do that,” said Bareford of Prachar, who owns a 12.01 UTR.
Prachar over his two seasons at NAU went 29-13 in singles and 30-14 in doubles, including 7-2 in conference play in singles and 8-2 in conference play in doubles.
Last season he was 14-8 in singles and 13-7 in doubles. He played mostly No. 2 last year for NAU in singles, where he was 6-1. His freshman season in 2023-24 saw him go 15-5 in singles and 17-7 in doubles. He played mostly No. 5 and No. 6 in singles, combining to go 9-2 there (and 10-2 overall in dual match play).
For his career in doubles, 28 of his 29 dual matches were played at No. 1, going 20-8 combined. He was named First Team All-Big Sky as a freshman in doubles after going 13-4 overall and 6-1 in conference play at No. 1 doubles.
Prachar should be familiar to Lobo fans, facing off three times in singles against UNM, and once in doubles over the past two seasons. The Lobos are coming off a 16-9 season and a No. 62 ITA ranking after sweeping three matches as the No. 2 seed to win the 2025 Mountain West Tournament title.
