TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –– The New Mexico men’s golf team continued play Tuesday at the 2025 NCAA Tallahassee Regional with the second round at Seminole Legacy Golf Club. The Lobos shot 1-over during the second day of play to remain in fourth place at 2-under for the tournament.

The top five teams at the regional will advance to the NCAA Championships. Host Florida State, the No. 2 seed at the regional, remains the leader at 21-under. Ole Miss, the top seed, moved up to second at 7-under, while fourth-seeded Georgia is third at 6-under. The Lobos, the tournament’s No. 8 seed, is fourth at 2-under, a shot ahead of No. 12 seed Augusta at 1-under, while Notre Dame, the No. 7 seed, is sixth at even par.

The Lobos had a strong start and got their score to 9-under midway through the round, but several bogeys on the final five holes brought their score back to 2-under overall. Freshman Clark Sonnenberg led UNM with a 4-under 68 on Tuesday. He is tied for third on the individual leaderboard at 5-under for the tournament. Carson Herron and Oliver Cage each shot a 1-over 73 during the second round, while Mesa Falleur posted a 75. Wyatt Provence rounded out the lineup with a second round 76.

“We got a great round from Clark Sonnenberg today,” said head coach Jake Harrington. “It was exactly what we needed to be able to stay in fourth. A couple of the other guys were struggling, but that happens in golf. This team will bounce back tomorrow. There are a lot of schools out there that wish they were in the spot we are in. We will get ready for tomorrow and win the day.”

The NCAA Tallahassee Regional concludes Wednesday at Seminole Legacy.
