Lobo Basketball Adds Deyton Albury and Tajavis Miller
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico men’s basketball program announced Friday the addition of another two transfers to the 2025-26 roster. Guard Deyton Albury comes to UNM from Utah State and guard Tajavis Miller joins the program from North Dakota State.
Albury, a 6-2 guard, played last season at Utah State, where he started 23 of 34 games and averaged 7.8 points per game. He scored in double figures 12 times, including 10 times in Mountain West play. Albury played the 2023-24 season at Queens, where he averaged 17.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game to earn third-team All-Atlantic Sun honors and the conference’s newcomer of the year award. The native of Nassau, Bahamas, began his collegiate career with two seasons at Chipola College in Florida, where he was named one of the top 100 JUCO players in the nation in 2023.
“Deyton is an athletic two-way guard with an elite ability to put pressure on the rim,” said head coach Eric Olen. “His experience and production in the Mountain West should allow him to make a significant impact for us next season. We’re thrilled to welcome Deyton and his family to the Lobo family.”
“I chose New Mexico because everything felt right,” said Albury. “From the success and support from the coaching staff to the passionate fan base, you can’t help but be excited. From the moment I stepped on campus, it felt like home. I’m excited to grow as a player and help bring success to Lobo basketball.”
Miller, a 6-4 guard, played the previous three seasons at North Dakota State. After starting 39 games over his first two seasons for the Bison, he came off the bench as a junior to average 10.6 points and 4.5 rebounds per game to earn Summit League Sixth Man of the Year honors. Miller had 19 double-figure scoring games last season, highlighted by a career-high 26 points against South Dakota in the Summit League Tournament. The Lubbock, Texas, native averaged 7.9 points as a freshman and 8.4 points as a sophomore as he shot over 37 percent from deep over his three years at NDSU.
“Tajavis is a versatile guard who excels both on and off the ball,” said Olen. “His ability to create his own shot and make an impact on the boards is incredibly valuable to our style of play. We’re excited that Tajavis and his family have chosen to be part of Lobo Nation.”
“Coach Olen really believed in me from the start, and I could tell he had a clear vision for how I’d fit into the program,” said Miller. “UNM has a strong basketball tradition and has been a winning program. I wanted to have the chance to play at a high level, win a championship and make the tournament.”
