Lobos Fall in Final Game of 2025 Season

by Allison Weiss

LAS VEGAS, Nev.— The Lobos fell 3-1 in the final game of the 2025 season with Jewels Hanawahine driving in Ashley Archuleta in the fourth inning to account for UNM’s run Saturday.

Archuleta finished with two hits in her final game as a Lobo, joined by Allie Williams and Hanawahine to have two hits.

UNLV opened the scoring with a run in the first with the Lobos having a chance to even the score in the top of the second with Archuleta hitting a one-out single up the middle and Hanawahine hitting a two-out single to right that put runners on the corners. A grounder back to the pitcher ended the opportunity.

The deficit extended to three in the bottom of the second with the score holding until the fourth inning. Jessica DeLeon started the inning with a single to center with a fielder’s choice and ground out to the pitcher on the next two at-bats putting Archuleta on second. Hanawahine drove the 2-1 pitch over the second baseman’s head and into the outfield to score Archuleta from second before the inning came to an end on a foul out to first.

Williams hit a two-out double in the fifth with a grounder to short ending the inning and the Lobos had their first two batters reach in the sixth inning on a walk for DeLeon and a single to right field for Archuleta to set up another chance to tie the game. Sydney Carithers dropped a sac bunt to move both runners into scoring position, but a liner to second and foul out to first thwarted the chance.

The Lobos were retired in order in the seventh for the final score.

Marina Tinari got the start, going 1.2 innings and allowing the three runs with Brooke Umali throwing 4.1 scoreless innings of relief.

The Lobos conclude the season 21-30-1, 6-15 in the Mountain West and graduate Archuleta, Emma Bramson and Carithers.
