Lobos Drop Regular Season Finale 4-1 to No. 65 Nevada
RENO, Nev. — New Mexico got a convincing win from Maria Sodre, but No. 65 Nevada proved a little too much and took a 4-1 win as UNM ended the regular season at 8-15 overall and 2-8 in the Mountain West. UNM now awaits the results of other matches to figure out its first round opponent in the 2025 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Tournament.
The win by Sodre was solid, winning 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 against Low-Anne Guerbert at No. 3 singles. However, Nevada swept doubles and took wins at Nos. 2, 4, and 6 for the win. The Lobos again showed some mettle, with Sarah O’Connor bouncing fback from a love-set to open her match with Marlene Foerster to get into a tiebreak in the second, ultimately falling 6-0, 7-6 (7-4).
The Lobos will play at 11 am Mountain Time in the opening round on Wednesday against either Air Force, Wyoming or Fresno State.
