Women's Tennis Drops 4-0 Decision to No. 42 SDSU
SAN DIEGO, Calif. — It was not a day at the beach for UNM, as the women’s team traveled to No. 42 San Diego State and feel 4-0 at the Aztec Tennis Center. The Aztecs moved within a win of the outright Mountain West regular season title, moving to 15-6 overall and 8-1 in the Mountain West while UNM dropped to 8-14 and 2-7 in conference play.
The Lobos dropped two matches in doubles as SDSU went out to a 1-0 lead. The Aztecs took wins at Nos. 1 and 3 to take the opening point. In singles, Marika Matsoukatidi retired in the second set to make it 2-0, and then the Aztecs picked up straight set wins by Ninon Martinache and Charlotte Roesch to close out the 4-0 win.
New Mexico ends its regular season on Thursday at No. 70 Nevada before moving to the Mountain West Tournament the following week in Las Vegas.
