Lobos to Host Air Force on Friday
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Coming off a tough home weekend against two conference leaders in Fresno State and San Jose State, the Lobos will look to get back on horse with a Friday afternoon showdown with the U.S. Air Force Academy. The match will take place at noon at McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium, and the match is the penultimate home match for UNM this season.
The Lobos are 8-11 on the season and 2-4 in the Mountain West, and still have a shot at a bye in the opening round of the 2025 Mountain West Tournament, but to get there, the Lobos will have to get by Air Force. The Falcons are 7-11 overall and 1-4 in the Mountain West, but are already six wins ahead of last year, and the Falcons just dropped a close 4-3 decision to 15-1 San Jose State.
The Lobos shuffled their lineup last match, but Maria Sodre continued her hot play, picking up a win and a no-decision over the weekend. The Lobos lost to Fresno State 4-1 and San Jose State 4-0 but were in the match the entire time, leading the halted matches but not able to salvage the critical fourth point. Sodre leads the team with 13 singles wins, and Sofia Taborga and Maud Vandeputte have 12 each.
