Lobos Finish Eighth at PING/ASU Invitational

PHOENIX – The New Mexico women’s golf team concluded play Sunday at the PING/ASU Invitational with the final round of play at the Papago Golf Course. The Lobos shot 6-over during the third round to move up places and finish in eighth at 18-overall in their regular season finale.

Tournament host, No. 9 Arizona State, won the event with a 36-under total. No. 12 Northwestern was second at 23-under, followed by No. 21 Kansas (11-under), No. 25 UCLA (3-under) and No. 42 Pepperdine and Tulsa (both 7-over) in the top five.

Rebecca Galasso had the best round of the day for the Lobos, shooting an even par 72 in the final round to finish the tournament at 6-over. Maria Garcia was UNM’s top individual finisher, T-27th at 2-over, after a final round 73. Maria Caparros Levin finished at 3-over after a 74 on Sunday, while Chelsea Truong finished at 7-over after a final round 75. Annie Saechueng rounded out the Lobo lineup, finishing at 22-over.

The Lobos return to action April 15-17 with the Mountain West Championship in Palm Springs, Calif.
