Lobo Women’s Golf Competes This Week at Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico women’s golf team returns to action this week with a trip to Texas for the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational. The event, hosted by Texas, will be played Monday and Tuesday at the 6,473 yard-par 72 University of Texas Golf Club in Austin.
The event features two rounds on Monday and one round on Tuesday. Live scoring will be available on GolfStat.com.
The tournament will consist of a 14-team field, as New Mexico will play seven top-50 foes in No. 2 Arkansas, No. 7 Texas, No. 13 LSU, No. 16 TCU, No. 33 UNLV, No. 34 Oklahoma and No. 40 Tennessee. Colorado, Eastern Michigan, Howard, Louisville, North Texas and Texas State round out the field.
New Mexico’s lineup for the event is Maria Garcia, Rebecca Galasso, Chelsea Truong, Maria Caparros Levin and Annie Saechung. Sophia Zamarripa is playing the event as an individual.
The Lobos are playing the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational for the first time since 2019-20, when the event was played in the fall. New Mexico won the title at the event in 2007-08.
New Mexico is coming off its best performance of the season, a sixth-place finish against an elite field at the Bruin Wave Invitational in California three weeks ago.
