by Frank Mercogliano

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s tennis team, heading into its rivalry week match at New Mexico State, has an appropriate ranking next to its name.  The latest ITA men’s tennis rankings came out and UNM was ranked No. 66, its first ranking of the season.

The Lobos are coming off a sweep of the weekend and the Jack Kennedy Classic, winning 5-2 over Wichita State and 6-1 over No. 67 Santa Clara.  The Broncos droped to No. 72 this week.

The only other Mountain West team ranked is Boise State, which is 9-4 overall and ranked No. 38.  The Lobos are 6-5 on the season and have three home matches after the New Mexico State match on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Las Cruces.
