Men’s Golf Travel to San Diego for Lamkin Invitational
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico men’s golf team travels to San Diego this week for the Lamkin Invitational. The event, hosted by San Diego State and San Diego at the 7,033-yard, par-72 San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, will run Monday-Tuesday.
The tournament will feature two rounds of play on Monday and one round on Tuesday. Live scoring will be available on Scoreboard.
The 16-team field is highlighted by nine top-60 squads. The Lobos, who moved up to No. 47 in this week’s national rankings, will compete against No. 22 BYU, No. 25 San Diego State, No. 32 Notre Dame, No. 33 Colorado, No. 35 San Diego, No. 40 Colorado State, No. 57 Loyola Marymount and No. 58 Santa Clara. Saint Mary’s, Fresno State, Wyoming, Cal Poly, UC Davis, UC San Diego and Hawaii round out the field.
The Lobos will feature a lineup of Mesa Falleur, Alvaro Portillo, Wyatt Provence, Carson Herron and Oliver Cage. Clark Sonnenberg will compete as an individual.
New Mexico has finished in the top five at the Lamkin in each of the past two years, posting a T-5th last year and winning the 2023 tournament title.
The Lobos are coming off a third place finish at last week’s Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas, an event where UNM finished ahead of 10 top-30 opponents.
