Men’s Golf Returns to Action at the Southern Highlands Collegiate
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico men’s golf team travels to Las Vegas this week for the Southern Highlands Collegiate. The event, hosted by UNLV at the 7,510-yard, par-72 Southern Highlands Golf Club, will run Sunday-Tuesday.
The tournament will feature one round of play each day, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Live scoring will be available on Scoreboard.
The elite 15-team field is highlighted by 12 top-30 squads. The Lobos will take on No. 2 Auburn, No. 4 Oklahoma, No. 9 Virginia, No. 11 Florida, No. 12 Illinois, No. 16 Georgia Tech, No. 18 SMU, No. 22 San Diego State, No. 24 Pepperdine, No. 26 Texas A&M and No. 30 Georgia. Host UNLV and Washington round out the field.
The Lobos will feature a lineup of Mesa Falleur, Alvaro Portillo, Wyatt Provence, Carson Herron and Clark Sonnenberg.
New Mexico finished ninth at last year’s event, which annually features one of the toughest fields of any regular season event.
The Lobos have had two top-five finishes this season, finishing runner-up at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate on their home course and concluding the fall with a T-5th at The Clerico in Tulsa, Okla.
