Men's Tennis Adds Two for 2025-26
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Head men’s tennis coach Rob Bareford has announced the additions of transfers Tyler Waddock and Alberto Perez to the 2025-26 squad. Waddock will transfer to UNM from Eastern Washington, which is dropping its men’s tennis program after this season, and Perez will come via Eastern Florida State College.
“Really excited with the additions of Tyler and Alberto for next season,” said Bareford. “We will lose a lot of experience with our senior class, so bringing in a pair of seasoned veterans will benefit our team.”
Waddock will be a senior in 2025-26, having spent his first collegiate season with Sacramento State before transferring to Eastern Washington where he has played two seasons. With the Eagles, he plays at the No. 1 slot and he currently owns an 11.86 UTR.
A native of Calgary, Alberta, he won provincials in Alberta in 2018 and advanced to the Canadian National Championships. While ranked in top 3 in Alberta throughout his entire junior career, he also was ranked at one point in the top-10 among Canadian juniors. A multifaceted athlete, Waddock also partakes in skiing, and wake surfing.
Alberto Perez is a native of Valencia, Spain and currently plays in the No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles slot for Eastern Florida State College. The Titans are currently ranked No. 3 in the latest NJCAA poll.
Perez has a host of rankings, sitting No. 7 regionally among Valencia, No. 27 in Spain among juniors, and No. 81 overall the Spain. In April of 2024 he won the J60 Telde Tournament ITF in Spain and the following month won both singles and doubles of the Comunidad Valenciana Tournament, a Junior Tournament. Here, he was Champion in doubles at the YTF Tournament at Lakeland, Florida in October of 2024.
