Lobo Women’s Golf Travels to California for Bruin Wave Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico women’s golf team returns to action this week with a trip to California for the Bruin Wave Invitational. The event, co-hosted by UCLA and Pepperdine, will be played Monday and Tuesday at the 6,359 yard-par 72 Valencia Country Club in Santa Clarita.

The event features two rounds on Monday and one round on Tuesday. Live scoring will be available on GolfStat.com.

The tournament will consist of a 12-team field, as New Mexico will play seven top-80 foes in No. 13 Arizona, No. 28 Cal, No. 29 Baylor, No. 31 UCLA, No. 43 Pepperdine, No. 55 Long Beach State and No. 76 Cal State Fullerton. New Mexico State, Rutgers, Santa Clara and Nihon University from Japan round out the field.

New Mexico’s lineup for the event is Maria Garcia, Maria Caparros Levin, Chelsea Truong, Annie Saechung and Rebecca Galasso. Sophia Zamarripa is playing the event as an individual.

The Lobos are playing in the Bruin Wave Invitational for the first time since 2021, when they finished the event in fifth place.

New Mexico played six events thus far this season, highlighted by a sixth-place finish at the Red Raider Invitational in Lubbock, Texas in the fall.
