Lobos Post All-Time DMR Marks at Alex Wilson Invite
NOTRE DAME, Ind. – New Mexico athletes put down two All-Time Top 10 performances in the Men’s and Women’s Distance Medley Relays Saturday at the Alex Wilson Invitational to highlight the Lobos’ final competition ahead of next week’s Mountain West Indoor Championships.
In the men’s DMR race, a UNM contingent comprised of Iker Sanchez (1200), Brodie Young, (400), Dylan Burrows (800) and Mathew Kosgei (1600), finished 10th overall with a 9:31.43 clocking that ranks No. 21 in the nation and No. 5 among UNM performances all-time.
On the women’s side, Alice Seguin (1200), Rebecca Grieve (400), Judy Rono (800) and Pamela Kosgei (1600) combined for a 11:01.06 time – 6.58 seconds behind UNM’s first women’s DMR performance last weekend in Seattle – that also ranks No. 21 in the nation on the NCAA Indoor Qualifying list and slots in at No. 6 on the UNM all-time list.
The only individuals to compete on Saturday, Marion Jepngetich put down a new collegiate best in the women’s mile (4:42.60) to finish second overall and Luke Cunningham (4:14.19) finished 11th overall in the men’s mile.
