Lobos in Ninth After Day Two of John Burns Intercollegiate

LIHUE, Hawaii –– The New Mexico men’s golf team continued play Friday at the John Burns Intercollegiate with the second round at the Ocean Course at Hokuala on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. The Lobos shot 3-over during the second 18 holes to be in ninth place through 36 holes.

Utah continues to hold the lead, posting a 15-under total through two rounds. Long Beach State is in second at 9-under, followed by UNLV at 8-under, Santa Clara at 7-under and BYU at even par.

Wyatt Provence led the Lobos during Friday’s play, shooting a 1-under 69 in the second round. He is at 4-over overall through 36 holes of the tournament. Mesa Falleur continues to be the top Lobo on the individual leaderboard, sitting at 1-under overall after a second round 71. Alvaro Portillo is at 2-over after a 72, Clark Sonnenberg is at 2-over after shooting 71, while Oliver Cage rounded out the lineup with a 78 on Friday.

The John Burns Intercollegiate concludes Saturday on the island of Kauai.
