Donovan Dent Named to Naismith Trophy Midseason Team
ATLANTA – New Mexico’s Donovan Dent was named to the 2024-25 Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Men’s College Player of the Year Midseason Team, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Friday. Dent is one of 30 players named to the team as a contender for the award, annually given to the nation’s top player.
Dent is the only Mountain West player selected to the watch list and the first Lobo ever to be recognized on the team since it was established in 2019. He was also the only Mountain West player selected to the Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Watch List earlier this month.
This season, Dent is leading the Mountain West in scoring at 19.6 points per game and is second in assists at 6.5 per game. He is the only player in the nation averaging over 19 points and six assists per game. Dent is the only player nationally to have three 30-point games and three 10-assist games this season.
The 10 semifinalists for the Naismith Trophy will be announced in mid-March.
The Lobos (21-4, 13-1 MW) will host Utah State on Sunday (2pm, CBS Sports Network) in a matchup of the Mountain West’s two top teams. The game is sold out, but tickets for the Lobos’ final two home games against Air Force (Mar. 1) and UNLV (Mar. 7) are available at GoLobos.com/tickets.
