Men’s Golf Travels to Kauai for John Burns Intercollegiate
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico men’s golf team travels to the Hawaiian island of Kauai this week for the John Burns Intercollegiate. The event, hosted by Hawaii at the 7,098-yard, par-70 Ocean Course at Hokuala, will run Thursday-Saturday.
The tournament will feature one round of play each day, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Live scoring will be available on Scoreboard.
The 17-team field is highlighted by 12 teams currently ranked in the national top 70. The Lobos, ranked No. 61 nationally, are joined by No. 10 Illinois, No. 16 Utah, No. 20 San Diego State, No. 21 BYU. No. 26 Texas A&M, No. 39 Long Beach State, No. 41 UNLV, No. 52 Grand Canyon, No. 57 Cal, No. 67 Santa Clara and No. 70 Saint Mary’s. Host Hawaii, Fresno State, Missouri, UTEP and Washington State round out the field.
The Lobos will feature a lineup of Mesa Falleur, Clark Sonnenberg, Oliver Cage, Alvaro Portillo and Wyatt Provence. Connor Adams will also compete as an individual.
New Mexico finished third at last year’s event as Bastien Amat took medalist honors. The Lobos last won the team title at the tournament in 2022.
The Lobos have had two top-five finishes this season, finishing runner-up at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate on their home course and concluding the fall with a T-5th at The Clerico in Tulsa, Okla.
