ON THE TRACK
First up in the men’s unseeded 200m, Semaj Thompson was the only athlete not DQ’d from the sixth heat, clocking a 22.98 raw time that placed him 47th overall. CJ Pizzeck finished third in the ninth heat (22.69) and 46th overall.

In the women’s unseeded heats up next, Rebecca Grieve posted her second 200m PR of the indoor season – this time a 23.72 (23.79 converted) that stands as a .23-second improvement and moves her into sole possession of the No. 3 spot on the UNM all-time list after matching McKenna Watson’s 23.95 (24.02@) personal best in her season debut at the MLK Invite on Jan. 24.

Laylah Lawson (48th, 25.20) added a personal best of her own and Ophelia Pulley (51st, 25.44) both recorded new personal bests as the next-fastest UNM finishers, with Adryana Shelby (25.67) rounding things out in 52nd.

Iker Sanchez led five Lobos in the men’s mile for an event win in his first indoor race of the season, finishing fourth overall to score five points (4:09.05 / 4:03.63@) ahead of Jayden Hernandez (5th, 4:13.87 / 4:08.34@), Will Pardue (9th, 4:19.37 / 4:13.72@), Kipruto Koech (10th, 4:19.66 / 4:14.01@) and Blake Reynolds (11th, 4:20.91 / 4:15.23@). Hernandez ran just .14 seconds shy of matching a raw personal best at the MLK Invite on Jan. 25, while Pardue, Koech and Reynolds all improved on their previous mile times from earlier in the season.

Anya Belisle led the way for the women’s mile, scoring six points with a third-place finish while crossing in 5:10.30 (5:03.34). Finishing fifth, Sylvia Schwedler scored four more points (5:14.29 / 5:07.45@) and Maleah Goldie (7th, 5:17.76 / 5:10.84@) and Katrina Endres (8th, 5:23.39 / 5:16.35) combined for three more ahead of Lyla Fedio (9th, 5:37.52 / 5:30.17).

As 800m racing got underway, Dylan Burrows came just shy of a converted all-season personal best with a 1:49.18 (1:48.57) clocking in his first indoor race since the Boston U Opener in December – the Australian senior finished second by just .14 seconds, scoring eight more points for the Lobo men.

Behind him, freshmen Matthew Endrody (1:49.66) ran under 1:50 for the first time for a new personal best and Rhys Crawford (1:53.80) ran just .07 seconds behind his season-opening time – they finished 6th and 12th, respectively.

In the women’s 800m, Hannah Taylor (2:10.95) and Fiona Holloway (2:17.14) put down UNM’s 14th and 15th new personal bests of the day, finishing third and seventh to combine for eight more points.
