Donovan Dent Named to Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Watch List

by Steve Kirkland

INDIANAPOLIS – New Mexico’s Donovan Dent was named to the 2024-25 Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Watch List, the U.S. Basketball Writers Association announced Monday. Dent is one of 50 players named to the list as a contender for the award, annually given to the nation’s top player.

Dent is the only Mountain West player selected to the watch list. The last Lobo to be honored with a place on the watch list was Jaelen House in 2022-23.

This season, Dent is leading the Mountain West in scoring at 19.4 points per game and is second in assists at 6.6 per game. He is the only player in the nation averaging over 19 points and 6.5 assists per game. Dent is the only player nationally to have three 30-point games and three 10-assist games this season.

The Oscar Robertson Trophy will be presented by the USBWA to the national player of the year in April, during the Final Four weekend in San Antonio, Texas.

The Lobos (18-4, 10-1 MW) return home Wednesday for a matchup with third-place Colorado State (8-2 MW) at The Pit. Game time is 8:30 p.m. and the game will air on FS1. Tickets for that game are on sale at GoLobos.com/tickets.
