Men’s Golf Opens Spring Schedule at N.I.T. in Arizona

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico men’s golf team will begin their spring schedule this week when it travels to Arizona for The National Invitational Tournament. The event, hosted by Arizona at the 7,200-yard, par-72 OMNI Tucson National, will run Monday-Tuesday.

The tournament will feature two rounds of play on Monday before the final round on Tuesday. Live scoring will be available on Scoreboard.

The 15-team field is highlighted by 11 teams currently ranked in the national top 100. The Lobos, ranked No. 57 nationally, are joined by host No. 11 Arizona, No. 36 BYU, No. 43 USC, No. 58 Iowa State, No. 59 Loyola Marymount, No. 68 Santa Clara, No. 70 Saint Mary’s, No. 85 New Mexico State, No. 98 Missouri and No. 99 Baylor. Fresno State, Oral Roberts, UC Santa Barbara and Wyoming round out the field.

The Lobos will feature a lineup of Mesa Falleur, Alvaro Portillo, Wyatt Provence, Carson Herron and Clark Sonnenberg. Oliver Cage will also compete as an individual.

The Lobos had two top-five finishes in the fall, finishing runner-up at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate on their home course and concluding the fall with a T-5th at The Clerico in Tulsa, Okla.
