by Frank Mercogliano

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Isabella Gomez once again hit a Zone qualifying score, scoring a 295.7 in her qualifying round to advance to the finals in third place before eventually finishing sixth to pace UNM in the 3-meter dive on the opening day of the Lumberjack Diving Invitational.  The event will continue tomorrow at 10:30 am with the 1-meter dive for the women.

Gomez’s sixth place finish was part of a solid day for UNM that saw nearly everyone in the lineup challenge for their best marks of the season.  Gomez, Arianna Pelligra, Rithika Colvin and Zoe Rinon all got within 10 points of their top scores, and Niah Morris went well past, scoring a season-best 192.10.

Pelligra finished 14th, qualifying for the consolation final where she was sixth with a 238.6 score.  That nearly matched her preliminary score of 238.25.
