Four Lobos Named to 2024 CSC Academic All-District Team
Four Lobos, punter Aaron Rodriguez, guard Baraka Beckett, receiver Kader Diop and center Malik Aliane were named to the 2024 Academic All-District® Football teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC). The team recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and the NAIA.
Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced January 28, 2025. For New Mexico, Rodriguez and Beckett were forwarded for potential Academic All-America consideration.
Beckett was a named First Team All-Mountain West and he was the nation’s No. 3 guard in pass blocking according to PFF. Rodriguez led UNM in punting and finished his career second in career punt, second in career yards and third in career average. Aliane started two games at center and saw action in all 12 games for UNM, and Diop (pronouned JOPE) was a key member on several on UNM’s special teams units.
