New Mexico Hosts Nevada Friday Night for 1,000th Game at The Pit
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M – The New Mexico men’s basketball team returns home to host Nevada Friday night for the 1,000th game at The Pit. Game time is 9 p.m. and the contest will air on FS1 and the Lobo Radio Network.
Tickets for the game are on sale now at GoLobos.com/tickets. It is a white out, so fans are encouraged to wear white to the game. In honor of the Lobos’ 1000th game at The Pit, 1,000 T-shirts will be thrown into the crowd throughout the game. Gates will open at 7:30 pm.
New Mexico (11-3, 3-0 MW) is looking to match its best ever start to Mountain West play, a 4-0 mark to open the 2012-13 season. The Lobos are coming off a pair of road wins at Colorado State and Fresno State last week. CJ Noland matched a career-high 23 points in the win at Fresno State, becoming the sixth different Lobo to have a 20-point game this season.
Nevada (8-6, 0-3 MW) is looking for its first conference win after losses to Colorado State, Wyoming and Utah State. The Wolf Pack is led by Nick Davidson, who is averaging 15.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
Nevada leads the all-time series 14-9, but the Lobos have won five of the previous eight meetings in The Pit. New Mexico swept both games of the series last year, winning 89-55 in Albuquerque and 83-82 in Reno.
The Lobos will visit Wyoming next Tuesday, Jan. 7 (8:00 pm, CBS Sports Network) before returning home to host San Diego State on Jan. 11. The game against the Aztecs will air on CBS and tip-off will be either 1:00 or 2:00 pm. (to be determined after the NFL determines the time of CBS’ wild card games that weekend).
