Lobos Fall on the Road in Season Finale

by Connor Gilbert

LAS VEGAS – New Mexico Volleyball fought hard to force a fifth set in its season finale on the road with UNLV but couldn’t make up the difference down the stretch (25-14, 19-25, 25-27, 25-17, 15-13) Saturday at Cox Pavilion.

UNM concludes the 2024 season with a 13-15 record overall and a 6-12 mark in Mountain West matchups, ninth in the final conference standings. After going 2-10 through the first 12 matches of conference play, the Lobos won four of their final six — with two of them being wins over tournament-qualifying teams — to close the season on a high note.

At the conclusion of the regular season, the Lobos led the league in team digs per set (15.77) for the third consecutive season, ranking second in blocks per set (2.53) and third in opponent hitting (.190) — they rank among the Top 100 in the nation in all three categories.
