Lobos Open Two-Game Homestand Thursday Night against Grambling State
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M – The New Mexico men’s basketball team begins a two-game homestand Thursday by hosting Grambling State at The Pit. The game will tip off at 7:00 p.m. with coverage on the Mountain West Network and the Lobo Radio Network.

New Mexico (3-1) is looking to rebound from its first loss of the season, falling to No. 22 St. John’s 85-71 on Sunday at Madison Square Garden. Donovan Dent is averaging 17.3 points and 8.8 assists per game, and is one of just two players in the nation to have at least 12 points and six assists in every game this season. The Lobos have four players averaging double figure scoring with Dent (17.3), Nelly Junior Joseph (17.5), Mustapha Amzil (12.3) and CJ Noland (10.8).
Grambling State (1-2) has already played a pair of ranked teams this season, having been edged by No. 24 Ole Miss 66-64 and falling at No. 20 Florida 86-62. The Tigers, the preseason SWAC favorite, is led by preseason conference offensive player of the year Kintavious Dozier.
Thursday’s game is the fourth all-time meeting between the schools, with the Lobos winning all three previous matchups at The Pit. The last meeting came in 2021-22, an 86-61 UNM victory in the third game of the Richard Pitino era.
The Lobos conclude the homestand on Sunday by hosting another SWAC foe, preseason runner-up Texas Southern. Game time is 6 p.m., and the contest will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network. Tickets are on sale now at GoLobos.com/tickets.
